The Chicago Fire have signed homegrown trio Chris Brady, Sergio Oregel Jr., and Mauricio Pineda to multi-year contract extensions, the club announced this morning. The deals come after all three have been major first team contributors for the Fire in 2025.

Oregel is in the final year of his initial homegrown contract, while Brady and Pineda had just one year remaining. All three have warranted new deals given the quantity of minutes they have played, particularly Oregel, who went from the fringes of the team in 2024 to a regular starter in 2025.

Oregel’s deal – which keeps him as a homegrown player on the supplemental roster – is signed through 2028 with an option for 2029. Just nine months ago, it seemed like his initial four-year deal signed ahead of the 2022 season would run out this winter, but after making the most of an unexpected run of games early in the year due to an injury crisis, Oregel has established himself as a quality first team player.

Similarly, Brady’s deal runs through 2029 with one additional option year. The Fire’s starting goalkeeper receives a well-deserved raise as his third season as the team’s go-to #1 and marks his first new contract since he signed his current deal in 2022. At the time, Brady’s second MLS contract made him the Fire’s highest-paid keeper, exceeding the salary of then-starter Gaga Slonina. However, it was still low for a good starting goalie in MLS, something that has now been corrected.

For Brady, the move ensures that at the very least, his short-term future will be in Chicago. The 21-year-old has been linked with moves to Europe in the past, especially given his contract situation earlier in the year, but is now almost certain to spent a few more years with the Fire. The club also secured the signing of 17-year-old former LA Galaxy goalkeeping prospect Owen Pratt, who will become a homegrown player in 2027, and who the Fire hope will be Brady’s eventual replacement in goal.
