Breaking down the Chicago Fire's ratings in EAFC25
Earlier this week, EA Sports released player ratings for their game, EAFC 25, which comes today. Only 25 Fire players from the 31-man roster will be represented in the Ultimate Team game mode due to loans and second-team commitments.
Following Xherdan Shaqiri’s departure from the club, Hugo Cuypers will be the only Fire player with a gold card, while Rafa Czichos remains the next highest-rated card.
Here is a review of each player’s rating.

Hugo Cuypers - 76 (EAFC24 - 76)
Following what have been some solid performances and a tally of 10 goals, Cuypers might not have met all the expectations he set when arriving in MLS, but this is hardly his fault. He was one of two players in the entire league who started every game prior to Wednesday. His rating has stayed the same and that seems reasonable.
Rafa Czichos - 72 (74)
Czichos has dropped two overalls from the last edition of the game. A possible explanation for this might be his lack of consistency or general steady drop in ability due to age. His in-game stats have not changed much, so the overall drop is understandable.
Kellyn Acosta - 71 (72)
This one is most likely due to his inability to play as often as he did in previous seasons. Although there has not been a change in performance, his lack of game time and direct goal contributions are the explanation of his slight drop in-game.
Gastón Giménez - 70 (72)
The two overall drop that Giménez’s card has experienced is not necessarily justified. Gastón has been fairly consistent this year, becoming Klopas’ preference for the captaincy since Shaqiri’s departure. He has had 3 goal contributions, the most of any season since 2021.
Tobias Salquist - 70 (71)
Although Salquist has dropped in overall, his in-game stats have improved and he has been given a rare silver card. It has been an injury-heavy season for Salquist, who has been out for long periods of time. Between this and a few unfortunate moments, like his own goal against Inter Miami, that might explain his slight drop in overall. Regardless, he has been one of the Fire’s best players in the center back position.

Arnaud Souquet - 70 (73)
He has had a solid season playing wingback but has not been directly involved in any notable game or win. Having been second to Arigoni during the start of the season, his drop in rating makes sense.
Chris Brady - 68 (66)
Since breaking onto the scene a few years ago, Brady has been improving significantly every single season. Knowing this, and keeping in mind the fact that he is still only 20, it isn’t surprising that his card keeps getting improved every year. Although it could be better, this is a justifiable upgrade.
Fede Navarro - 68 (69)
Navarro had a great 2021 season, arguably being the Fire’s best player, but since then, he has dropped off a lot in quality. He has started five games all season with no goals or assists to his name. Dropping slightly in rating is understandable.
Brian Gutiérrez - 67 (64)
This is one of the more controversial ones considering Guti has 9 goal contributions, 23 starts, and is one of the biggest threats in this Chicago Fire attack. Although he has improved significantly in-game and has gone from a bronze to a silver card, he deserves an even bigger upgrade.
Andrew Gutman - 67 (68)
An injury just minutes into the season and other setbacks have taken their toll on what was looking to be a promising season for Gutman. He has played in 11 games, starting all, and scored a beautiful goal along with an assist in that time. His downgrade of one overall makes sense, considering the circumstances.

Chris Mueller - 67 (68)
Mueller has started 13 games of 22 he has played in, contributing two assists in that time. He has had a difficult season, so the downgrade is fair.
Maren Haile-Selassie - 66 (66)
Considering he is the player on the team with the most goal contributions, scoring five goals and assisting another eight, Haile-Selassie should be way higher up on this list. He has been one of the Fire’s best players. Maintaining every base stat is a downgrade.
Fabian Herbers - 66 (64)
Starting the season off involved in both goals in the first game and now having seven goal contributions, he has had a consistent season. Although he has been a quiet contributor, the upgrade to a silver card is deserved.
Allan Arigoni - 65 (63)
Going from a bronze to a silver, Arigoni has also seen a significant upgrade. He had a solid start to the season, playing almost every game in his natural right back position as well as the left when needed. Since his form has been dropping off a little bit as of late, a two overall upgrade is good.
Georgios Koutsias - 65 (64)
Another card that is upgraded from bronze to silver. He was great in Leagues Cup, despite a group stage exit, and just scored the winner against Red Bull last weekend, adding that to another goal and assist in MLS. As a second string to Cuypers, however, playing time isn’t ideal for him. His change in rating is justified.

Ariel Lassiter - 65 (65)
Having only been at the Fire for a few weeks, and having played just two games, there isn’t much to go off of for Lassiter. With 10 goal contributions for Montréal, staying at the same exact rating is unfair. An upgrade, no matter how small, is deserved.
Mauricio Pineda - 65 (65)
Pineda joins the group of players who’s only card update is the picture. He has had a similar season to last year, so no change in stats makes sense.
Carlos Terán - 65 (64)
He has a moderate boost, it could have been higher, but it corresponds with his playing time this season.
Spencer Richey - 64 (64)
With one game played all season, in the absence of Brady, there can’t be much to change. Staying at the same rating may even be generous.
Chase Gasper - 63 (64)
With a total of four games played since January, it makes sense for his overall to decrease.

Jeff Gal - 63 (63)
Considering Gal had been playing in the Swedish league for around three years before coming to the Fire, and considering the fact that he has yet to play a first team game, it is understandable for his card to remain the same.
Wyatt Omsberg - 62 (62)
Yet another player that keeps his same rating as last season, it is understandable when noting Omsberg has only played in nine MLS games since January.
Tom Barlow - 61 (62)
Barlow has played in the majority of games this season but has started in less than a quarter of them. In addition to this, he has only scored one goal in MLS, explaining his overall decrease.
Jonathan Dean - 61 (None)
Although he has been in EA FC for the last two years, appearing in career mode, this will be his first Ultimate Team card. It is higher than most because he has played in the majority of the Fire’s games this season. The rare bronze card is an adequate first card for him.
Justin Reynolds - 54 (None)
Reynolds has played in four MLS games for a total of 59 minutes after returning from his short loan spell at Lugano. This is his first season being in the game, so a low rating is expected.

*******
Overall, there is one more silver card this time around, making up for the departure of Shaqiri, who had a gold card. The only in-game stat over 85 overall is Arigoni’s pace, which is an 89.
That concludes the EA FC 25 player rating review, let us know what players deserve the biggest upgrades and downgrades.
