Maren Haile-Selassie is your man of the match. The player on loan from FC Lugano in Switzerland had a generally quiet night…with a couple of quiet exceptions. His night started with being the only Fire player on the same side of the pitch as Shaqiri when the Fire scored their opening – and equalizing – goal, down a man in the 42nd minute of play.
Just a few minutes later, he made the scoring ledger his own. In an absolute golazo of a goal in the 49th minute, he took a pass of Kacper Przybyłko’s chest and rifled it past two Atlanta defenders and Quintin Westberg, putting the Fire on top despite being down a man… on not one but both goals where he was integral.
