Omari Glasgow signs with Fire first team
The Chicago Fire are signing Omari Glasgow to a first team contract, the club announced this morning. The Guyanese international winger has spent the last three seasons with Chicago Fire II.
Glasgow, 21, has become a fan favorite throughout his time in Chicago and has been a star at the MLS Next Pro level. He has also excelled on the international stage and recently became Guyana's all-time leading scorer just a few days before his 21st birthday. Glasgow has provided 15 goals in 13 assists in 62 matches for Fire II while appearing twice off the bench in MLS for the first team last season.

Since arriving at the beginning of the 2022 season, Glasgow has provided an energetic spark on the wing for the Fire's second team and has shown flexibility to play in a number of different positions, including on either wing or as a fullback. He has also played as a number nine for his national team, though his preferred role is on the right side of the attack. Glasgow's ability to take on defenders one-on-one or beat them with pace is his key asset.
Glasgow is the third signing for new Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, who took over the team in October. He is also the second signing that is a promotion from the second team following David Poreba's announcement last week. The move also succeeds the arrival of Jack Elliott as a free agent from the Philadelphia Union on Monday.
The move is also significant for Guyana's national team, as Glasgow will become just the fifth player from the Caribbean nation to ever play in Major League Soccer after Gregory Richardson, J.P. Rodrigues, Warren Creavalle, and Emery Welshman. Glasgow's accomplishments with the Golden Jaguars include Concacaf Nations League Golden Boot and Best Young Player honors in 2024.
