After each Fire game this season, we're asking our followers to select their Man of the Match. Today, you voted for defender Carlos Terán.

It was a devastating night for all Fire fans. With crucial players picking up suspensions and injuries, on top of conceding a 90th-minute game-winning goal due to a goalkeeping error, center-back Carlos Terán was one of the few bright sparks for the Fire tonight.

The powerful center-back controlled the match from the back and was crucial to keeping the Fire in the match. The Union really struggled to find a way past Terán as he put the Fire on his back tonight. Especially after going down to 10 men just minutes into the second half, Terán inspired a defensive effort that held strong up until stoppage time. Terán’s most crucial intervention of the match came in the second half when he denied a cutback header to Union captain Alejandro Bedoya. The former USMNT midfielder was ready to pounce on a ball in front of an open net when from out of nowhere, a sliding Terán came to the Fire’s rescue as he knocked the ball clear. It denied a certain goal and kept the game level.
