Philip Zinckernagel Named to MLS All-Star Roster
Philip Zinckernagel is going to Austin. The Danish winger was named to the 2025 MLS All-Star roster by Austin FC (and All-Star game) head coach NIco Estévez.
As a result, Zinckernagel becomes the first All-Star for the Fire since the 2023 season, when Kei Kamara was named as a commissioner’s selection in the lead up to the match. That selection, however, was largely due to his lengthy MLS career rather than his accomplishments for the Fire that season.
Zinckernagel, however, is going to the showcase match at Q2 Stadium in late July because of his play for the Fire this season. After a career that has seen him play in seven clubs across five countries in Europe since becoming a professional in the 2016-2017 season, Zinckernagel was signed to the Fire in January.
He quickly established himself as one of the most important players on a resurgent Fire that, halfway through the season, has already matched its 2024 win total. That’s due in no small part ot the winger’s play that has seen him score five goals and adding seven assists.
His combination of skill and hard-working play has quickly made Zinckernagel a fan favorite in Chicago, and now the 30-year old Copenhagen native will have a chance to put his talents on display in the league-wide All-Star showcase on July 23rd.
