Jairo Torres has agreed to terminate his contract with the Chicago Fire, sources tell MIR97 Media. The Young Designated Player has struggled to make an impact since joining the Fire in a blockbuster move ahead of the 2022 MLS season.

Torres had been linked with a move away from the Fire all offseason and moving him to free up both a DP and Senior Roster spot was a top priority.

Liga MX club FC Juárez, who currently sit 17th in the standings, are among the clubs interested in picking up Torres, according to Fox México's Jaqueline Almodóvar. If Torres joins Juárez, he will play alongside former Fire captain Francisco Calvo, longtime El Tri backup Alfredo Talavera, and ex-U.S. youth international Sebastián "Bofo" Saucedo.

In close to two full but injury-riddled seasons with the Fire, Torres made 41 appearances but failed to register a single goal or assist. Prior to coming to Chicago, where he was constantly in and out of the lineup and on and off the treatment table, Torres was a standout with Bicampeon Atlas, who won historic back-to-back Liga MX titles in 2021-2022. The midfielder opted for a move to MLS as he initially saw it as a stepping stone to Europe and the Mexican national team, but his inconsistent performances ensured that neither opportunity materialized.
