Sources: Omari Glasgow Joining Loudoun on Loan
Chicago Fire winger Omari Glasgow is joining USL Championship club Loudoun United on loan, sources told MIR97 Media. The Guyanese international has played just seven minutes in Major League Soccer since the end of May.
The loan until the end of the season will enable Glasgow to play regular minutes, something that dried up in Chicago once summer arrived. Crucially, the move also opens an international slot on the Fire’s roster, paving the way for a new addition from overseas.
Glasgow, who signed a first team contract in December after three seasons with Chicago Fire II, is Guyana’s all-time leading goalscorer at the age of just 21, but is yet to fully adjust to the level of MLS. Nonetheless, he started this season strongly, featuring in the first 15 matches of 2025 and making six starts between MLS and Open Cup play, mainly as a right back. Since May 25th, he has played just once and was a late substitute against FC Cincinnati in July.

At Loudoun, Glasgow is expected to play the majority of the remaining minutes this season in USL for a team competing for a title. Loudoun are currently third place in the Eastern Conference and set to reach the postseason.
Though initially founded as the reserve team for D.C. United, Loudoun is now an independent club playing in USL, but D.C. do still send players there to get minutes. The most notable players currently on their roster include USL Golden Boot leader Abdellatif Aboukoura, former Columbus Crew star Pedro Santos, and former U.S. top prospect Moses Nyeman.
While the Fire do lose their fourth-choice winger in this deal, it shouldn’t make a major difference as Jonathan Bamba, Maren Haile-Selassie, and Philip Zinckernagel have played all of the minutes out wide for the last two months. Additionally, the club could also play Brian Gutiérrez or homegrown signing Dylan Borso there if needed. Fire II winger Vitaliy Hlyut has also trained with the first team at times.

By opening an international slot, the Fire avoid paying what could potentially be an exorbitant fee to acquire one from another MLS team. Trades in recent weeks have seen various values of international slots, ranging from $75,000 of General Allocation Money to $225,000. With summer reinforcements on the horizon, opening up that slot is key and will make it possible to register the next signing.
