The 19-year-old goalkeeper saw just 25 minutes of action before he was eventually subbed off at the 30th minute with blood streaming down his face. After making an initial stop from a close-range effort, the teenager sprang upon the loose ball and in doing so, smashed his face into a Toronto player’s kneecap.
Although the collision forced Brady to leave the field early in the match, his bravery prevented a certain goal and kept the match at 0-0.
Brady’s biggest moment of the match, however, came a little before the collision, where he made a great diving save on Federico Bernardeschi. The Italian’s powerful strike came from inside 12 yards and forced great reflexes and athleticism out of Brady to keep Toronto off of the board.
Although Brady did not even play a third of the match, a couple of bright moments made him the Fire’s most valuable player from what was an uninspiring team performance.
